Originally from southwest Wales, Cardiff-based photographer Katie Waite’s work explores themes of maternal relationships.

Her most recent projects, Bread & Butter and Muscle Memory, combine forms of constructed documentary practice and archive imagery to examine ideas of maternal strength, transformation and femininity.

Katie graduated in 2022 from the Univeristy of the West of England with a First Class in Photography. Since graduating she has been apart of the South West Graduate Photography Prize 2022 and her work was chosen to be apart of the Blurring Lines catalogue 2022.

Katie wanted to further her studies with the Photography MA. Currently Katie is pursuing research surrounding Welsh women and what does it mean to be a Welsh woman.
